Shakeara has worked in accounting for over ten years. Her accounting experience spans all levels of government (local, state, and federal), in addition to corporate exposure and multiple non-profit organizations. Shakeara’s expertise ranges from reporting government payroll that grosses nearly $2 million weekly to managing a state agency budget of $6 million and overseeing the financial health of a non-profit organization grossing over $10 million annually. Shakeara has also worked with leaders and board members to improve bank relations and B2B partnerships, implement ERP accounting software, and enhance internal control policies supporting GAAP, FASB, and ASC frameworks.

As a member of the accounting profession, Shakeara enhanced her knowledge by earning an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Maryland Global Campus. In 2021, she completed her graduate studies in UMGC’s Accounting Information Systems program and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration at the same institution. 

As a Baltimore native, Shakeara enjoys Baltimore eateries and local attractions. Recently, she took on more responsibility—her puppy, Jax. Equally important, she loves assisting small business owners with their accounting, finance, and business needs. Shakeara has recently completed the Accounting Leadership Institute with the Maryland Society of Accounting and Tax Professionals (MSATP).
